A Date With TILDA, at the Waitrose Cookery School, London

WE WON!!! A simple question from, North London Mums on Twitter saw Myself and Kyd win a fantastic, Tilda Mummy & Me Cookery School place, at the Waitrose Cookery School in London! How fantastic is that! I saw a tweet asking what our fave quick midweek meal was so I replied... Our fave is Cod Fillet, pesto and (weirdly) boiled rice... or spiced/seasoned rice... We later got a reply saying YOU'VE WON!!!.... Yay!!

So here's what we won!...
A master Class with Jo Pratt, of BBC Good Food fame! She is on the TILDA mummy Panel and WE got to cook her recipes with her too!... and we even got to eat it after!... and we got to keep our Aprons! lol

We had a bit of a twist to this comp prize, as I had a phone call earlier that week asking if I could bring a friend along as they had a spare place.... as I happened to be with a friend and her son (I'll call them Goldfish and Son) at the time of the phone call, I thought it'd be rude if I picked someone else, so invited them along.... they were so excited!... apart from the fact Goldfish hates London... other than that... she was excited! So on Saturday we navigated ourselves to Finchley Rd tube station without any hiccups or injuries... We were slightly early mind... *cough cough* an hour *cough*... But...

This Saturday, Kyd, Myself & Golfish & Son, learnt to cook... Special Fried Rice & Chocolate and Banana Rice Pudding :bigsmiles:

As I said, We arrived a bit early and so we pottered around Finchley rd and then decided to work our way up the stairs to the beautiful Kitchens of the Waitrose Cookery School.  We were greeted by the lovely PR people and a few friendly mummy faces! I started chatting to the ladies and their kids and started to discuss Blogging and... as if like magic... at the word CyberMummy I heard this voice say 'cybermummy??' It was fellow Blogger Pippa From A Mothers Ramblings, who had also attended CyberMummy11... She's like a Mummy Blogging Superstar! I was slightly humbled by her presence and we had a good little chat over pudding making lol she's lovely, it was great to meet you Pippa!... Anyway when everyone had arrived we got taken into a little room and it was fab! we were introduced to Tilda the Brand and the qualities of eating Rice by a member of the Tilda team and then we were introduced to Jo Pratt... I just want to add 'What A Lovely Woman!!' she was brilliant with the kids and was fantastic with Kyd's random mutterings and interruptions... She was just lovely!... She talked us through what she does (she's a Chef... & a Mum) and she explained what we were doing...

We had some fantastic kids in that room they were all so cooperative, alert and interested in food!... Kyd seemed to develop some sort of over confidence... Joke He is always like that! Cocky little bugger!... He answered all the questions and was ever so in love with Jo.... slight crush we think! We then went out and cooked a lovely... Special Fried Rice... So quick, healthy and easy! A pack of Tilda Steamed Egg Fried Rice and some chicken, veg, honey and Soy sauce and TA DA.... Believe me it's Yummmmmmmy we all had a separate kitchen and all ate what we made after!... We even took some home for the Hoff! Isn't he lucky ay!!

We went back in to the the studio room for Jo to teach us how to cook Pudding!!... PUDDDDIIINNNG!!... Our fave word! They'd even got mini goldfish some LactoFree Milk so us LactoFree folk can eat it too! Skills!... So So Simple Chocolate & Banana Rice Pudding.... A pack of  Plain Tilda Steamed Basmati rice some milk, a little bit of sugar, a banana and a few squares of plain chocolate... AND YOU HAVE THE BEST & QUICKEST PUDDING EVER!! So creamy and chocolatey... Yet HEALTHY surely that can't be?? It's fantastic even with LactoFree milk! Something we can ALL eat instead of me having to have a separate pudding! We had so much fun cooking it too!

All in All we had such a fantastic day! We all left stuffed and with some brilliant new skills and facts that we can use from now on... To Be Honest we've had some Special Fried Rice this lunch time as we were so eager to make it again!... We even wore the Aprons we had on the day!... We got to keep them along with some sachets of different flavoured Steamed Rice... Which Hoff has stolen some of for his lunch at work!... Cheek of it!

Thank You TILDA! & Thank You North London Mums what a fantastic prize!!

Some info on Tilda...
Tilda was the first company to bring Basmati rice to the western world over 30 years ago and is now selling in over 40 countries. They select their beautiful and fragrant Basmati from over 10,000 indipendant farmers who they are on one on one basis with. They don't actually own their own Rice Farms as they believe they get better rice from the original Indian farmers in which they pay fairly, they to this day stick to the Fair Pay for Basmati Farmers and intend to continue doing this forever more. Tilda only buys the finest pure Basmati and never compromises on Quality... Their brilliant Steamed Basmati Sachets bring this all in a quick and easy way and comes in so many flavours!

That's enough of that! We all know who TILDA are! If you don't where the hell have you been?? Do you not do a weekly shop? or Have you not stepped foot in a supermarket? They are THE best rice brand in my eyes and were even before I went along to the cooking class! It is a regular part of our weekly shop and our weekly meals!... not to mention one of Kyd's favourites!

Basically We Love TILDA!... The End!!

We were not paid for that last bit I just wanted to share some of their hard work with you guys... Is that such a crime? lol

Dear So & So... The Rioter addition...

Dear Rioters in London & Beyond,

Are you f**king serious??... What the hell are you going to achieve by this?... Proving the fact that you are just idiotic Sheep?... that you can't think for yourself??... OR that you are just brain dead idiots??

If you like to fight and like to see chaos then I think maybe you should join the armed forces... although by now you wouldn't be accepted due to your new Police Records.. Well done for that!... Doesn't that say something when even the Army think you're useless scum!!... I believe this could have been a good career move for you as then maybe you could go and defend yourselves from similar people to yourselves... except they play with Bombs! See how you get on then ay big man/woman??... Maybe if idiots like you had the discipline of the army it would allow the good men and woman of the armed forces to come home to their law abiding families and leave you to get blown up and lose your world and lives instead as this would be less of a loss... ok this is harsh but I'd pick them over you any day!

Maybe seeing the world of war struck countries will make you appreciate what you've just burnt down. Where life is scarce and precious, where items are earned and appreciated and people are vulnerable to dickheads like you and living in poverty and fear, yet they don't loot or steal from their own. They're living with illness and diseases with no NHS or help from their Government... No friends or family left alive and yet they're still holding their heads high at the same time as holding their babies they haven't been able to feed properly for days, weeks, months! Maybe when you see this you may think 'what have I got to be rioting about again?'

Actually that is a good Question, What are you Rioting about?? Do you actually have a point? or are you just complete idiots. If the point is still the shooting of the man by the Police... do you really think that this is doing his memory any good? He is now known as the cause of the worst riots in Britain in 3 decades... Brilliant well done you! That poor man's family now have to deal with the fact their loved one caused this!! Does this make you feel good? The grief of losing a family member is bad enough this is adding to their pain and this will be documented alongside his name forever more. what an achievement that is!!

Just to let you idiotic people know... this will make taxes Rise due to having to pay back the cost of the damage you've created. This will also mean funds for things like benefits and the NHS, which you no doubt live on one of, if not both, will be cut... this will also mean the already high numbers of Poverty will rise and with hundreds of people losing their jobs from the shops you've just smashed up, this will make unemployment rise and yet more homelessness and poverty... So if, like the girl on Sky News said, it was you just 'getting your taxes back'... WELL DONE KNOBHEADS, you've created even more of a disaster and expense and hike in fees, costs and taxes than you've ever faced before... So guess what... that couple of hundred quid you get on ebay from the stuff you've looted... isn't gunna get you far!! As clever as you think you are for doing this... The rest of the country, & world for that matter, THINKS YOU'RE A TWAT!!

Yours,
A very pissed off English Woman!!
PS... Swearing at the TV cameras is just making you look like twats!

More importantly to me...

Dear Parents of the Rioters in London & Beyond,

WHAT THE F**K?? How have you let your offspring of all ages especially the 7,8,9+ year olds get involved in this manic outrageous behaviour? Why are they on their own in the streets of London anyway? and What sort of behaviour is that for that age child or anybody for that matter??

If you plead ignorance I will actually scream! How are you, as a parent, obviously oblivious of their whereabouts or behaviour?!... Or were you there with them passing them the petrol bombs and asking them to carry the loot?? I am very intregued as a parent of a nearly 9 year old as to how you can lose track of your child even when you know half of the city is alight... especially when it's going on around you?!

Why are you not in the streets yourselves searching for your children and dragging them by their ears, hoodies, boxershorts, bra straps etc... back to their homes? Why are you leaving it to the bloody, stretched at the best of times, MET police to fix your kids, which is more than likely caused by your bad parenting? I must stress that, I do understand that this is not always the case and that the best of parents can still have a bad apple in their mix and for you people I still say.... why have you no idea where your child/teenager is Bad apple or not? It's the 3rd day of these riots we all knew they were going to continue, surely you should be aware of this and if they are adamant they are going out then follow them... failing that phone the police yourselves...

If I lived in London or surrounding area, I would have locked my children in the house whatever age and kept them in whatever they said, did or tried! I'd have done it for their safety and their well being. I understand peer pressure I was a teenager not so long ago and I remember how you can get dragged into the mix without being aware... but come on seriously, SORT IT OUT!

You should be ashamed of your offspring whether child or grown up, maybe you need to rethink your parenting techniques. I may sound harsh but if you aren't thinking this already then you're quite simply an idiot! Wake the F**k up!... And If I hear any of you blaming this country or it's facilities for the failing of your child, then I will Scream even louder than before and believe me I am not nice when I'm angry... I go all northern!

Yours very angrily,
A fellow parent!

PS if your child comes home with loot of any kind taken from this hideous course of events... Take them down to the police station yourselves... how else will they learn behaviour like this is unacceptable in this country and in General!... If you don't they'll find them eventually... I've probably just seen them on the TV whats the betting the police have too!

Late Night Rant... Shopping for Female Giants

It's 1am on the 1st Monday of the school holidays and, scarily, of August... Where has this year gone??... and I can't bloody sleep. I thought I would use this time to get a few Blog Posts finished but I keep getting distracted by the ramblings of randoms on twitter... then got distracted by the fact I have no clothes (I don't even remember how this became relevant at 1am but there we go)... The wardrobe full of material just doesn't count as it's old, out dated and quite frankly, and scarily, doesn't fit any more... As I am skint and Hoff has said 'no shopping this month' (same as last month then ) due to the pressure of the 6 week holidays, I decided to attack my online shopping account with Next...

Now, I am 6ft tall with a 36inch leg and a size 7 1/2 shoe and finding clothes for my giant of a body is hard work... luckily, or so I thought, Next have a tall section so the fact I was limited to one shop wouldn't matter...

But WHY do shops think all TALL woman are DOWDY and quite bluntly OLD?! I am not singling out Next here by the way I love the place for everything else Kyd's wardrobe is like their shop floor... I am just pointing out that this range, amongst others around, is quite irritatingly DULL! They do try, I mean they have the odd gem in there, but generally the 'Tall' section it's like walking in to Marks n Sparks or BHS and I wouldn't usually put Next in the same category as them shopping wise... I am not being offensive to either of these brands either, we use these too, but for different reasons... I love M&S' tights and Kyd loves BHS' boys range... I just wouldn't choose to buy my everyday clothes there... just yet... I am 25 and they are aimed at a slightly older market... But I am sure in years to come I'll be a regular... have I dug myself out the hole yet?... Anyway swiftly moving on...

In my annoyance I decided to check out a few more online stores that offer TALL sections...
Long Tall Sally for instance... A whole shop devoted to TALL woman '5'8" and above' Yet I think I have again walked in to a shop for middle aged/ office workers/ mums types. Where are the clothes for us 'younger' tall girls?? So I typed in 'Tall Girls Clothes' instead of 'Woman' and up came TallGirls.co.uk and I was excited by the fact there was a cool younger model in the pic... alas I wasn't really that impressed there either really, sadly! Still as above pretty boring! So I found myself shouting (in my head as it's late)... NEXT!!...
So then came Tallandall.com OMG it was defo for the Drag Queen industry... I have to admit it cracked me up seeing the words 'PVC Clothes' in the categories... haha soooooo that was a NO!... obviously a very quick and promt... NEXT!!...
So next on my Google list www.laredoute.co.uk who just thought I was 'En Plus'.... which I thought was rude!!... I may have put on weight but Google now seemed to be taunting me about it... Is this what you call 'Cyber Bullying'? lol... I didn't like that idea so left that site immediately! didn't even check out the range to see if it was tall lol... NEXT!!!...
Now I loved the name of the next one www.lankybird.com BRILLIANT that is what I had been called all my life... I had high hopes for this one... FAIL!... Not only was it dowdy it was bloody ridiculously priced!... :Sigh: NEXT!!...
Then came Mr and Mrs Tall Clothes... odd name I thought lol (I preffer LankyBird I think!)... But this was just a Blog on clothes for Tall people... I read through it and they were still a bit 'Not Me' even though they'd put together little collections of the best clothing from mainly the above companies, I just wasn't feeling it... Was this really all that was on offer??? they had obviously gone through the internet JUST LIKE ME... written a blog about it JUST LIKE ME... and they still came up with nothing  and  all at the same time!

OMG I am destined to be 'Old Before My Time!' Jeeeees!! there must be a slight glimmer of hope in the fashion industry, after all, to be a Model you have to be over 5'10" for god sake how do they get them into the clothes for the actual photos to be taken? and Where the hell do the Models go to get their clothes when they're not working???

I know that a few of the 'High Street' shops such as, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Top Shop do Tall ranges from past experience... as obviously I haven't lived the past 25 years naked... but there seems to be so little choice that I walk in and turn around... that or in the case of Top Shop which I adore I just can't afford to buy it... but if I actually see something I like they don't have my size anyway... because for some reason they all think all tall girls are models and a size 6... so I have a sneaky suspicion this is the stomping ground of my, much envied, model folk... That or they are all living in the clothes they gain from the odd designer campaign they've got under their belts... annoyingly pretty, tall, skinny modelly types make me sick... I am, of course, just jealous of their cleverness to use their height to their advantage instead of throwing it away getting fat and whinging about it... which of course I am doing now... oh well onwards and upwards... trying not to go any further outwards...

How come I still can't find a clothes shop that will fit my tall, fat ass! I Googled it for god sake! Google was meant to have all the answers!... Google you have failed me!

OK so I may have overlooked the fact that New Look, Top Shop and Dotty P's have online sites... and on those online sites they may have a larger Tall Range... So I tried them too...

New Look = 74 items in my size in their 'Tall' range out of that range 2 items jumped out at me, both Jeans... I was disappointed in that tbh. they didn't actually state how long their 'Tall' length leg was either which was annoying!
Dorothy Perkins = Much better than I had thought actually... But again literally only 19 items to chose from  Why only 19?? compared to the 136 of the 'Petite' range I think thats kind of stingy of the Dotty P designers to be quite honest I am disappointed and a little peeved about it!
Top Shop = Still only 69 items but that is far greater than the measly 19 Dottys were offering... and at least they had tried to keep the range in this season and the next unlike the rest... But it was still not 100% brilliant... I love Top Shop I often go and glare at all the pretty things and whilst in London I am often found pottering around their fantastic Oxford St shop... generally in ore of the pretty girls who are able to pick out an outfit, try it on and for it to actually fit and then watch them actually be able to buy it, with actual money... albeit no doubt it is Daddies money but it's money all the same and something I haven't got!

So I am pleased to say that, although I have not got the money to buy any of the 69 items in the 'Tall' section of Top Shop, They ARE in fact the ONLY people who have actually taken in to account that Tall People are not all a size 6 and that we are not all middle aged and dowdy, Oh and that we quite like to wear what other people wear and I Thank You for that... But It hasn't helped me as I still can't buy anything... But you have restored my faith... albeit only slightly...

Soooooo If you can drop your prices to that of Primark, Just for the Day and then let me know in advance... then I'd be truely grateful as I literally have pence in my account and taking on a TopShop account scares me, as I have no reason or will power to stop myself from spending too much and getting in to serious trouble with the Hoff... and the Bank...

If anyone has a solution... other than prostituting myself for the funds to buy out the whole of Top Shop's Tall section... Please let me know... I am bored of my wardrobe and need to kick start my life back to being Me again and maybe to start by remembering I'm 25 not 45... and Maybe informing the High street fashion people that I am of that age too!
